My mom left to Puerto Rico this morning because my grandfather is sick and she rather fly to find him well then fly to bury him. I sent him a red baseball cap with the Rutgers logo on it. I hope he likes it, even though he only wears hats to do yard work I hope he thinks of me when he wears it and I hope he is proud of me. I owe him a lot and I wish that someday I could be half the man he is.
I also sent him a note that said that I will be done college in 25 days and I thanked him for all his support. I hope it makes him feel better and makes him know that there is still people that need him and want him to stick around for awhile longer. He is 80 years old and this past Christmas I noticed that he has come to terms with old age and what follows. He doesn't wish he was younger or immortality, that just shows his character and how strong he is.
I know he will be OK soon I know its not his time but it always hard to think that nothing last forever. I hope I can be as strong as him and feel like I have accomplished something. My college degree is one step in the right direction.
